There are some lovely swim locations around Sligo, like the placid and frondy Lough Arrow on the N4 (part of the lough lies in County Roscommon):

Further into Sligo proper at Deadman’s Point, the water was a ferocious whirlpool in comparison, although I imagine it’s an amazing spot on a calm day




At Bishop’s Pool, a fantastic spot on Mullaghmore Head, the tide was low and the sea had calmed down for our last day in Sligo:

Glencar Lake was complete autumnal serenity and a recommended swim:

And Lough Owel, on the road home through Westmeath, was rosy and gorgeous, a spectacular swim jetty (this may be the top swim):
